Havanese

Tumbles (Ngalla Life Goes On)
Ruffy-Anne (Ngalla Little Majik Glasses)
Juliette (Karyme Dancing Diva)
Ellie-May (Karyme Dreams Happen)

OMG! We had no idea when we went looking for a small breed that we’d end up with the MOST awesome, most delightful, little dogs on the planet. We investigated several smaller breeds before deciding to add Havanese to our team. We wanted smaller dogs that were capable of being trained to assist people with hearing impairments or who were confined to a wheelchair or suffering from dementia. They needed to be small enough to sit on a lap for long periods, but also smart, trainable, friendly and attentive. Given that most of our puppies are sold as companions, we also wanted a breed that was fun to live with and not too difficult to care for, without the major health issues that some of the more popular smaller breeds face. Our main concern was the hair factor. Havanese don’t shed, which is stupendous, but they do grow very long coats and need regular grooming. We didn’t think they could be any more difficult to maintain than our curly-coated Lagottos, so we decided to jump right in and see how we fared.

Ruffy-Anne and Tumbles arrived from Ngalla kennels late in 2024 and were joined by Ellie-May and Juliette, from Karyme kennels, in 2025. And what a delightful bunch of dogs these turned out to be. We’ve never had dogs that are just so glad to be alive. Every day is an adventure for these little guys. They wake up bursting with energy and joy and can’t wait to get outside for their first adventure. They also love cuddles and spending quiet time with their special person. The hair issue turned out to be not too bad. Their long hair is fine and straight and much easier to maintain than the Lagotto curls. Plus, they don’t look too bad with a total clip in summer when the weather warms up. Honestly, we don’t know why there aren’t more Havanese in the world. They feel like a very well-kept secret! We are so glad we found them and can’t wait to see what the future brings. Please flick through the gallery below to see how cute our Havanese are. We hope to start breeding them later in 2026 so please check back or contact us if you’d like to join our mailing list to hear about new arrivals.
